Beautifully written, thought provoking vignette. This scene could be a beginning, a transition that creates a tension, a plateau or an ending to a long narrative. I like the tension this short vignette creates in the mind ~ if its a part of a novel, could be a very interesting read.

Oh, I didn’t noticed it’s a quotation from Salinger’s work. Is it from his book/novel? Nenertheless, it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I love writing vignettes.
